Five local teens from Boy Scouts of America Troop 993 recently earned the high rank of Eagle Scout. Samuel Dennison, John Feliz, Jack Libby, Andrew Knabel and John Williams III were recognized at an Honor Court ceremony for their achievement.

Samuel James Dennison, son of Thomas and Ellison Dennison of Annapolis, is a senior at Old Mill High School. His Eagle Scout project consisted of designing and constructing a goat playground at Kinder Farm Park.

John Thomas Feliz, son of Dan and Sarah Feliz of Millersville, is a senior and is homeschooled. John created a safe and secure area for bike parking at Elvaton Park.

Jack Owen Libby, the son of Arthur and Sandra Libby of Severna Park, is a senior at Archbishop Spalding High School. Jack designed and built a bench seating area and garden for the Berrywood community.

Andrew Mason Knabel, son of Dave and Chandra Knabel of Millersville, is a freshman at University of Maryland, Baltimore County. For Drew’s Eagle Scout Project, he developed a paver walkway to the memorial gardens at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church.

John Frank Williams III, son of John and Michele Williams from Pasadena, is a freshman at Anne Arundel Community College. John created a wildflower garden in the Stoney Beach community.

Achieving the rank of Eagle Scout is a unique distinction that has only been earned by approximately 2 million scouts since 1912. Troop 993 has had 171 young men achieve this highest rank in scouting since 1970.

Severna Park Methodist Church sponsors the Boy Scouts of America Troop 993. Jack Libby said, “When looking at local Boy Scout troops, it was very evident that this was a strong group who were very active in scouting.” He credits the numerous volunteers for their guidance and support to help the scouts succeed.
