Register Now For Girls Scrub Basketball

Written by Colin Murphy | September 17, 2017

The Severna Park Green Hornets Girls Senior High Basketball League—popularly referred to as the Girls Scrub League—is back for its fifth season! Registration can be completed by visiting http://www.greenhornets.org.

The league is available to all girls in grades 9-12 from any school. Past teams have included players from Severna Park, Severn, Archbishop Spalding, Chesapeake and Broadneck, as well as some home-schooled players. All experience levels will be welcome to participate in this very popular league that emphasizes safe, fun and mildly-to-moderately competitive games.

The league uses a draft system to create diverse teams with up to 10 players. Playing time is divided evenly so every player gets to play at least two quarters. The league only has one practice and then reserves the remaining gym time for games.  All games are played at Severna Park area schools against teams within the league. This makes for a fun, friend-filled season. The season ends with a tournament, and the winning team earns bragging rights and highly coveted Girls Scrub Champion t-shirts.

The league is always looking for coaches who value and strive to create safe and fun team environments. Registration for coaches can be completed at http://www.greenhornets.org.
